Reverse osmosis plant recovery rates vary from as low as 10% in the case of sea water to 90% with some low salinity brackish waters. As the water passes along the membrane surface the salt concentration increases and some sparingly soluble salts exceed their solubility products. These salts can precipitate on the membrane surface causing fouling which may reduce output and increase the product water conductivity. The two most troublesome salts are calcium carbonate and calcium sulphate and their prevention is essential if the membrane is to work efficiently.
On the basis of scale formation like (calcium, magnesium, carbonates, sulphates or silica) Different type of anti Scalent are used to remove the scale from Ro membranes
Anti-Scalent is formulated with a combination of organic phosphonates and polymeric dispersants to both inhibit the formation of scale forming salts and to disperse typical suspended solids which can enter these systems from the raw makeup/feed water. It is designed to provide CaCO3, CaSO4, and BaSO4 scale control and sequestration of soluble iron and manganese at low treatment dosages. This product is intended for use where membrane treatment processes produce potable water for distribution.
Use it where ANSI/NSF Standard 60 drinking water additive is required. This is intended for use on non-potable water distribution systems
